Russia's Ministry of Education has begun a new nationwide career guidance program for students in grades 6 through 11.
The program, called "Russia: My Horizons" or "Ticket to the Future," is unified throughout the country. Each Thursday, students get a taste of an in-demand career field, from educational requirements to professional opportunities to professional challenges to national achievements in the field.
While the method of communication differs by grade level (for instance, younger students may get an animated video, while older students might get a presentation from an expert professional), each week focuses on a different field, from IT to design to engineering.
In the wake of the invasion of Ukraine, Russia's education system has been in something of a transition. Even as the Russian economy is (apparently) in good shape, lessons have shifted to focus on patriotic and "Russian" values. This new program is a further step in a unique and centralized curriculum.
