Can you give us a short description of your city? Where is it located? What is it famous for? The Republic of Kalmykia is a federal subject of Russia. It is the only region in Europe where Buddhism is practiced by a plurality of the population. It has become well known as an international center for chess.

What is something about your city that only locals would know? All trees in Kalmykia are artificially planted.

Which places or sites are a must for someone to see if they visit your city? The khurul "Zolotaja obitel' Buddy Shak'jamuni" is the biggest Buddhist temple in Europe. Chess City is a large complex devoted to chess. Kalmuk Steppe, or Kalmyk Steppe is a steppe of approximately 100,000 km², bordering the northwest Caspian Sea. The old khurul.
