The SAFER (Supporting Action for Emergency Responses) Ukraine initiative led by American-based children’s hospital coalition St. Jude Global has already helped over 600 patients amid the crisis in Ukraine.

The services provided include transport to medical facilities in Europe and the U.S., translation of medical records, and more. According to a press release, St. Jude has paved the way for the transport of Ukrainian patients to the U.S.

In one instance, four Ukrainian children were transported from Poland to the United States to continue cancer treatment after their treatment was interrupted by the conflict. The youngest is nine months old, and the oldest nine years. The U.S State Department completed the airlift of the young patients from Poland to Memphis, Tennessee.

Tony Thomas, son of the founder of St. Jude Danny Thomas, stated in a press release that it was his father's initiative to help children everywhere, not just here in America.

Stargorod: A Novel in Many Voices

Stargorod is a mid-sized provincial city that exists only in Russian metaphorical space. It has its roots in Gogol, and Ilf and Petrov, and is a place far from Moscow, but close to Russian hearts. It is a place of mystery and normality, of provincial innocence and Black Earth wisdom. Strange, inexplicable things happen in Stargorod. So do good things. And bad things. A lot like life everywhere, one might say. Only with a heavy dose of vodka, longing and mystery.
