Patriotism Ed

Patriotism Ed
The man himself, ready to shape young minds. Kremlin.ru

New classes are popping up in Russian schools to discuss the invasion of Ukraine, and the first one is being taught by the president himself.

According to President Putin, these new classes are needed to combat "an anti-Russian enclave" that has been created regarding present-day Ukraine that threatens Russia itself. It is these kinds of thoughts, he believes, that create a threat to Russia.

These new classes are being referred to as "important conversations" and are meant to explain the invasion of Ukraine to grade-schoolers, but, most importantly, are supposed to show youth the value of "dying for the motherland."

Parents and teachers have already begun voicing complaints, calling the important conversations "propagandistic," not to mention the concern about their third-graders being told that “the happiness of the motherland is more precious than life.”

The fostering of patriotism through these discussions is also accompanied by new mandates to raise the Russian flag and sing the national anthem every Monday.
