Dromedary on the Roam

Dromedary on the Roam
Thank God they got a photo of the camel. I'm not sure anyone would have believed them otherwise. Photo via Nizhny no1 on Telegram

Mushroom pickers in the Nizhny Novgorod region found more than they bargained for when they encountered a grazing camel in the forest where they were gathering.

At first, the witnesses could not believe their eyes and thought that maybe they had accidentally consumed the wrong type of mushroom (such as the infamous Fly Agaric, which is known to give vivid hallucinations). But alas, after sitting down for some time, the camel remained and they realized that it must be real.

According to users on social media, somehow this is not the first time that a stray camel has been spotted in these forests. While these creatures are nowhere near indigenous to the region, there does happen to be a small farm with llamas, donkeys, horses, and other animals nearby that can escape from time to time.

We wonder what exactly was the straw that broke the camel's back and made it decide to pursue a life in the open forest instead? Regardless, we hope it is doing well and not bothering too many people
