– Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, announcing the end to the conscription in the capital.

The mayor of Moscow announced that, as of October 17, Moscow will no longer mobilize conscripts for the invasion.

Just last month, Putin announced a partial mobilization for all of Russia to send reservists to Ukraine; Sobyanin declared that the "task of mobilization" in Moscow has been "completed in full." The Moscow announcement came two days after Putin promised to end the mobilization within "two weeks."

Out of the expected 300,000 reservists set to be mobilized, 222,000 were drafted. Many poorer and more remote regions have sent a higher proportion of their population.
