Petersburgers know how to celebrate the lifting of coronavirus restrictions: on the water, and with colorful costumes.

More than two thousand attendees took to St. Petersburg's canals for the annual "Fontanka-SUP" festival on August 8, donning goofy costumes including Disney princesses, Vikings, and a lamp and taking to the Neva River canals that criss-cross the metropolis. This year, the fifth time the event was held, was especially jovial, as the paddlers celebrated the lifting of coronavirus restrictions in the city.

Even some animals got in on the fun, with photos of paddle-boarding dogs and hedgehogs making the rounds on social media.

We laud the participants for both their creativity and athletic prowess.
