According to the most recent data, the number of citizens who died during the blockade was 900,000 persons. At the beginning of the war, the population of Leningrad was 3.2 million. In 1944, when the blockade was completely lifted, just 560,000 persons remained. 700,000 died from hunger and bombings. 600,000 were sent to the front. The remainder were evacuated.
