Vladimir Nabokov

VLADIMIR NABOKOV (1899-1977) is perhaps the best-known Russian-American author. His father was a member of the 1917 Provisional Government, which forced the family to flee to Crimea and then to Western Europe. Most famous for his novel Lolita, Nabokov wrote multiple highly acclaimed novels in English and in Russian, and went on to teach Russian poetry and literature. Early in his career he wrote under the pseudonym Vladimir Sirin.
