Mikhail Gerasimov

MIKHAIL GERASIMOV (1889-1939) was one of the original working class poets spawned by the Revolution. He initially embraced Bolshevism and took part in the effort to create proletarian culture, but in the 1920s his disillusionment grew, and his writings began to diverge from the official line. He was arrested in 1937 and died in prison two years later.
