Gerard Shelley

GERARD SHELLEY (1891-1980) was a British linguist, author and translator. He traveled around Russia before and during the Revolution – meeting with the empress and Rasputin on a few occasions – and later became an ordained bishop in the Old Roman Catholic Church in Great Britain, becoming its third archbishop in 1952. After WWII he translated works by many of the great Russian poets and writers.
