Alexander Kobelev

Alexander Kobelev, the Sami Grandfather Frost known as Mun Kallsa, was born in Lovozero. His mother came into the world right here in the tundra: her grandfather pitched a chum and heated water, and that's where she was born. Today Alexander is director of the National Cultural Center. He can recount his family lineage back 500 years. Among his ancestors was Filipp Chorny, who lived in a pogost – a parish settlement – in what is now Apatity.
