Letters to the Editor

To the Editors:

I just wanted to compliment you on a fantastic job. I use articles from nearly every issue for some aspect of my classes on Russian history at California State University, Long Beach. My students especially liked the article on Regent Sophia. “It was interesting and readable,” said one student. The article became the basis for a lively discussion about women, power, and attitudes toward gender in Muscovy. I’ll be using the most recent article about Tsarina Elizabeth (Nov/Dec 2009) to continue the discussion for Petrine Russia. So thanks and keep up the good work!

Best,

To the Editors:

Thank you for the wonderful article about Admiral Kolchak in the November/December 2009 issue of Russian Life. I can’t say that Admiral Kolchak is a hero of mine, but he deserves to be treated fairly and accurately, as in this article.

Please have lots more about the Russian Civil War in our magazine. An entire article of cartoons would be a good start.

Love,

To the Editors:

My husband and I traveled to St. Petersburg on a cruise tour last summer and absolutely loved it! We are preparing for a longer Russia visit next summer and are using the language learning inserts in the issues. I hope that you make them a permanent feature of the magazine!

Sincerely,

To the Editors:

I am a long term U.S. expat in Russia. On a recent visit to the U.S. I saw your Nov/Dec magazine on newsstands for the first time. What a great collection of articles! Do you have any plan to sell Russian Life in Russia?

Mark:

We cannot cost-effectively send issues in bulk to Russia for retail sales. But we gladly fulfill subscriptions to over 50 countries, including Russia. We even have subscribers in Siberia!
