|Sergei Shandin was born and raised in Moscow. His love of photography began at a very early age and he loves to experiment, though he also deeply values traditional photography shot on film and developed by hand. “I love photographs that tell a story,” he said “But in contrast to literature or paintings, which also can tell a story, but in an extended manner, photography tells the story of a moment in time. A fragment of time, sliced by the shutter of a camera, and preserved.” He loves to travel and has been teaching photography around Russia for the past ten years, considering the best evaluation of his work to be the fact that many of his students have themselves become fine photographers.
