The world’s biggest country, in a magazine. Since 1956.
Since receiving a Master’s degree in Photojournalism, ALISON SHUMAN has been working as a freelance photographer in the US and Russia. Her most recent project, Minarets and Onion Domes, which focused on relations between Muslims and Orthodox Christians in Kazan, culminated in a book of the same title and the production of a solo exhibition at the Tatarstan State Gallery of Modern Art in Kazan. She continues to travel the Russian countryside, photographing the patchwork of cultural enclaves that comprise this vast and varied land.
