Mrs. Crimea Under Fire

Mrs. Crimea Under Fire
Even the internet isn't safe from Russian censors. Or Russian memes. The Russian Life files

Olga Valeyeva, reigning Mrs. Crimea beauty pageant winner, is under investigation by Russian authorities for singing a Ukrainian song and posting it on the internet.

Valeyeva is accused of singing the folk song "Chernova Kalina" and, along with a friend, posting it on social media. "Chernova Kalina" is a song used by many organizations branded as "nationalist" and therefore banned in Russia, including the Azov Regiment.

In a later Instagram post, Valeeva pleaded ignorance, saying that she didn't know that the song was banned or even used by nationalist factions of Ukraine. It should be noted that Instagram is one of many sites currently banned in Russia.
