Russian anthropologists have now established, after prolonged excavation, that Moscow never had a native population: fifteen hundred years ago, the capital’s future location already showed clear signs of cohabitation, linking the Vyatichi, the Krivichi, and the Khazari peoples, and even an unusual tribe with Negroid coloration.
