She once spent a lively year in St. Petersburg without ever obtaining a Russian entry visa. She now lives uneventfully in Tennessee with her husband and two young daughters, creating lyrical, poetic translations of drilling reports for the Russian oil and gas industry and chaperoning Girl Scout field trips.
